IMF’s Resident Representative Thanks Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia

Phnom Penh: On Monday, the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, Chea Chanto, had a meeting with the resident representative of the International Monetary Fund, Mr. Yasuhisa Ojima.

Mr. Ojima expressed thanks to the bank for its support and facilitation for the IMF’s Article 4 Consultation Mission in Cambodia, which was completed successfully in early September. He says that IMF is optimistic over the Cambodian economic recovery and lauded the measures taken by the Royal Government of Cambodia in combating COVID-19, as well as the measures set forth by the National Bank of Cambodia to contribute to the economic growth and work towards cutting the burden for traders and the poor affected by COVID-19 crisis.

Taking the opportunity, the National Bank of Cambodia governor thanked the Article 4 Consultation Mission team and the IMF for their key recommendations in carrying out different measures for economic development and response to the pandemic crisis. Mr.Chanto spoke highly of the presence of IMF’s representative office in Cambodia, which has played a significant role in coordinating technical assistance and building staff’s capacity to help.
